Paris has something that I don’t think any of us travel junkies can explain, (of course if you omit their subway station which is in dire need of some TLC). It has that feeling of love in the air, elegance, and beautiful architecture. There are a million travel guides all over the internet to Paris, on what to do, what museums to visit and where to eat, so for this travel post I want to share with you a treasure of an accommodation in Marais.
I have been working in the hospitality industry for almost 6 months in St. Lucia, luckily at BodyHoliday, named 4th best spa in the ENTIRE WORLD, and this experience has now made me even stricter when it comes to choosing the place where I want to have my 8 hours- or for me, 12-hours of sleep. Now I can’t choose a random hotel, it must have character, exceptional service, and aspects to make it unique to make my experience worthwhile. To add to my OCD self, this time I wanted a special spot as we chose Paris to celebrate (just a bit early), our 2-year wedding anniversary.
I have had the fortune of going to Paris several times and it was always either in good hotels but bad location, or good location, and bad hotels. I am pleased to say that I have finally found the perfect combination of good location, and good hotel with exceptional service. Of course, a good location for me must include several places around to dine, cute shops and boutiques, and of course access to touristic spots while being sufficiently “off the beaten track” and away from all the touristic madness so that one can get a real feel of Paris and its culture. I know I am hard to please, but after this last trip to Paris I will no longer have to explore when it comes to the perfect accommodation in the “city of love”.
Le Marais spreads across the 3rd and 4th arrondissements in Paris. It is also one of the districts where you can find trendy restaurants, fashion and hip galleries, and many of your favorite international shops. It’s just a very central district full of history and life.
Now you must be thinking at what point on this post will I mention the accommodation, well, I’m happy to say that we have reached that point.
Here is why La Chambre Du Marais is the best boutique hotel to stay in Paris in my mind;
The hotel is walking distance from Notre Dame, and the walk there is beyond beautiful watching the Parisienne life at its fullest. You won’t find the Eiffel tower nor the Champs Elysees located in the area but Notre Dame, Louvre Museum and Place des Vosgues are nearby.
Our experience was fantastic. As we entered La Chambre du Marais, we felt that sense of chic, perfection, and the beautiful smell of their signature candles emanating that woody, floral, and spicy atmosphere which gives this hotel its warm and luxurious feel.
Every single detail had that “extreme care of attention” labeled on it. It was just fantastic to be able to sit down and relax, after a long overhaul trip in their comfortable living room and be explained what the area had to offer, while Quentin, the manager took care of the rest. No lobby, just pure sense of elegant decoration and warmth.
There are many options of rooms depending on your budget but we went with the deluxe suite “La Residence”. This intimate, comfortable, and elegant hotel was our home for the next few days. Our chosen room was full of amazing details and surprises. Of course, one of the highlights for me, being obsessed with toiletries was our Clarins products. I am not sure about your experience, but I haven’t found many hotels around the world that offer top products like these. We had a whole selection in both our shower and bathtub in full size, so I was even able to take some back home as a souvenir!
We also got the “Dream Menu” for the perfect night and it added a beautiful and relaxing touch to our stay at La Chambre du Marais. We chose our favorite type of pillows, got a take home relaxation mask filled with lavender seeds, a Kindle to enjoy some light reading and we listened to La Chambre du Marais’s playlist while sipping on their range of stress-relieving drinks.
Le Bar de la Veuve is La Chambre du Marais’s bar, and it has a lovely lounge atmosphere that invites you to try one of their homemade cocktails, teas or a glass of Champagne finely selected by Maison Veuve Clicquot, exclusive partner of La Chambre du Marais.
Finally, we decided to have the in-room breakfast service. For £20pp we had the most delicious spread of everything you can imagine: hot chocolate, Viennese chocolate, freshly squeezed orange juice, pain au chocolat, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, natural yogurt with fruit, and a lovely selection of cheeses. It almost felt like a brunch, but being in Paris, it would be a catastrophic mistake to miss a meal, so we took it as breakfast.
I look forward to visiting this spot again, and would suggest an experience staying for the Christmas season as all the decoration, and amenities just seem like a winter wonderland treasure.
This hotel is truly a stylish gem in the trendiest part of Paris!
