Union Island, St. Vincent and the Grenadines
Located in the beautiful Grenadines, Union is a small, tropical island that makes up for its small size with an overwhelming amount of charm. Upon arrival at the small airport, you can feel the happiness and relaxed atmosphere, I swear even the dogs are happier here!

Luxury: David’s Beach Hotel – All Inclusive
What to Do
Kitesurfing pretty much put Union Island on the map for tourists. Whether you want lessons or equipment rentals, there are a few options available on/around Union. I highly recommend JT Pro Center – they are well established, have an excellent reputation, and maintain high standards for equipment and safety. I am already planning on heading back to Union to take a few lessons with their qualified instructors!
Snorkeling, Diving, Paddle Boarding & Sailing
Clear waters and an abundance of marine life make snorkeling and diving very popular in this region. Union is also a major sailing destination–you will meet people from all over the world sailing these waters. When it’s less windy, take a paddle board tour around the island!
Take in the views at Fort Hill! Approximately a 20 minute walk from Clifton Harbour. The top offers stunning panoramic views of Union and the surrounding area.
Explore Clifton Harbour
The hub of the yachting community, Clifton’s main strip is lined with shops, bars, restaurants, and Hugh Mulzac Square for local fruits and veggies.
Day Trips From Union
Tobago Cays & Mayreau
Take an organized tour with Captain Yannis to snorkel with the turtles and explore a few of the islands! Personally, I always hire a water taxi from Clifton Harbour to adventure here and have a little more control over the itinerary. You CANNOT miss the Tobago Cays if you are in the area. Also, Salt Whistle Bay on Mayreau is a cool little spot with bars and souvenir stands well worth checking out!
Take a boat or get dropped at the top of the hill and make the steep trek down to this fairly isolated bay for a great day spent in the sun. Good snorkeling, restaurants, and bars make this a popular day trip for tourists! Note: the walk up the hill is 100x harder than the walk down, TRUST ME.
Where to Eat/Drink
The Snack Shack
This is the best place to go for breakfast/brunch/lunch or a drink in the evening after a day of exploring. It’s a cool café with laidback beachy vibes. In true island fashion, don’t be alarmed if there’s a dog at your feet throughout your meal! Great coffee (GET THE ICED), food, and service. This is always my first stop when I arrive at Union. ALSO check out the cute boutique attached to the café for souvenirs.
I love the Roti here, LOVE. Great spot right across from the water, located in Clifton Harbour. The Italian owners make a mean pizza and an amazing pasta with authentic noodles made in house, delicious!
Sparrow’s Beach Club
Excellent food and cocktails on a beautiful white sand beach make this spot unbeatable! Make sure you try the smoked marlin. Sparrow’s also offers a free shuttle from Clifton and back, so no need to worry about transportation!
I just love this place, if you missed my initial blog post on Happy Island click HERE. One of the most unique bars I’ve been to, enjoying a cold bevy and watching the sunset here is a great end to a day of activities!
***When planning your trip to Union Island, try to go when there’s a full moon! The Full Moon Beach Party is AWESOME and makes the island holiday complete. Dance the night away under the stars to great music with the Hairoun and rum punch flowing and kite-boarders jumping over a massive bon fire. This is a one hell of a party!
