If you are changing jobs, moving to a new city, or starting a new chapter in your life, hopefully you can relate to this post.
♥ Zara Larsson – Never Forget You (Price & Takis Remix)
This is the 7th time I have packed my bags, and gotten ready to embark on a new journey into the unknown. Don’t worry I haven’t become a master traveler. This time we are leaving with eleven suitcases. Still hoping that the next move will allow for a lighter load. However, the feeling of excitement is the same every single time. Mixed emotions, of having met interesting and unique people that became family while I was away from my home, and now saying goodbye, knowing deep down that we will cross paths again.
St. Vincent is different from all the other places that I had lived before. It took me back to my roots. The island life gave me a feeling of care-freeness that had been lost living in big cities and immersing into competitive lifestyles. In St. Vincent I was able to take off my heels, walk barefoot, take off my fancy clothes, live in bikinis, gym and beach clothes and walk around with not a drop of makeup. It was a wonderful feeling of not having to be someone else other than myself.
Of course there are settling phases, days where I felt homesick and needed a hug from my mom, dad or brother or missed my favourite 4-legged one Harry, but those days pass. Looking back and now getting ready for a new city and country, all there is, is an immense feeling of gratitude for the amount of lessons learnt, the challenge of understanding the local accent, the conversations, tears, and laughs that have changed me into who I am today -someone much stronger who is ready for more challenges and adventures!
St. Vincent will always be a special chapter in my life journey. Ok, I will miss the out-of-this-world sunsets and all the smiles, and special people with big hearts that welcomed me to this island. But also it was my first year married to the kindest soul I have ever met. It was also special as I met Jodi and we embarked on a journey together to start this fun blog and share all of our passions and put our dreams into it to share with the world. Now we are not only blog partners but have forged a great friendship.
As I finish this post, I just want to tell you to embrace all of your future life changes in the most positive way and everything will flow in the right way. As someone that I love told me, it is important to grab every opportunity with enthusiasm, honesty and most importantly, humility.
I feel genuinely happy to be simply living this thing called life.
Thank you, St. Vincent.
St. Lucia I am sure you will surprise me. I am ready for you!
You will never be completely at home again, because part of your heart will always be elsewhere. That is the price you pay for the richness of loving and knowing people in more than one place. – Miriam Adeney
