Travelling made easy.
Thinking of going travelling but not sure where to go? Australia is a country that should be on everyone’s list! Besides the endless supply of beautiful beaches (some of the best in the world are here), Australia offers lush tropical rainforests, incredible reefs, deserts, the outback, mountains, wineries, islands, laid back beach towns AND city life. Basically, Oz has it all. Something for everyone, and travelling here is so easy, except for that insanely long plane ride across the world that is!!
Haven’t done much travelling? That’s okay. This country caters to backpackers/young travellers. Chances are you will find others who are also inexperienced and intimidated by travelling to a foreign country. Because I’m from Canada, Australia was not a culture shock at all. Canada and Australia have so many similarities (besides the weather) which made it that much easier to enjoy.
+++ I recommend starting in Cairns and working your way down the East Coast to begin, so many great spots for exploring and this region is really geared towards travellers/budget travellers with tons of hostels and travel agencies to help you plan your journey! +++
Going to Australia
Australia requires a visa to enter the country. If you’re planning on staying for less than 3 months and have no interest in working, a tourist visa would work perfectly. HOWEVER, the great thing about travelling to Australia is the option to work there while you adventure around!!! If you are interested in being abroad for an extended amount of time, the Working Holiday Visa is a great option! This visa allows travellers ages 18-31 to work and travel during their stay in Australia for up to a year, with the option of extending it to a second year visa with 3 months of farm work.
4 Reasons to Choose the Working Holiday Visa
1. It’s SO easy to get
Unlike work visas in many countries, the Working Holiday Visa in Oz is VERY easy and quick to get! You can apply online and have your visa as soon as a few hours later assuming you meet all the necessary requirements.
2. Australia is expensive to travel
As amazing as Australia is, it is a very expensive country to travel. Food, accommodation, transportation, and activities sure do make a dent in the bank account. Having the option of working relieves the pressure of running out of funds. You can work and travel – win win!!
3. It keeps your options open
If you travel on this visa, you don’t have to work or stay for the full year, it just gives you the option to! Because Oz is so far and expensive to get to, having the option to stay once you are there is a major bonus!
4. Sponsorship opportunities
If you absolutely love this country, 100% never want to go home, there are opportunities to get sponsored by a company for your residency, depending on education and field of work.
There are so many reasons to travel to Australia. For me, the hardest part of this adventure was the time difference. It really is on the other side of the world, and the time difference makes staying in touch with family and friends difficult at times.
