Workout motivation can come from all different sources, internal and external. I enjoy researching different routines/moves/circuits, watching videos, and educating myself so I can change my workouts on a whim. This also helps to maintain the desire to stay accountable with your fitness goals.
With social media taking over the world, there’s information everywhere regarding fitness. I understand some don’t enjoy following fitness accounts for many reasons. A big concern I’ve heard is they feel it’s not healthy for their self-image. Whatever the reason is – I completely respect the hell out of that and kudos for knowing your needs.
Know what works for you; what makes you feel good and inspires you to improve your fitness/eating habits. For me personally, I enjoy following fitness accounts. It helps me. One of the things I probably love the most is fitness results cannot be faked – it’s seen very clearly through physique, form, and strength.
Here are a few instagrams, blogs, websites, and vloggers that I follow and turn to for external motivation:
1. Alexia Clark
This woman does some crazy circuit work. It doesn’t hurt that she’s strong and extremely fit. I love circuit work, and she has some unique ideas.
2. Cristina Capron
Probably my favourite fitness instagram account for so many reasons. She’s real and is brutally honest. I love honesty. She posts the good, the bad, and cares more about being truthful than her image. It seem like she values that people look up to her for fitness inspiration. Also, her fitness videos are great for form or finding a new exercise. I don’t follow her blog, just her instagram but I linked it below anyway.
3. Muscle & Fitness
Overall, just informative and usually reputable. All kinds of helpful information for fitness and diet. I prefer the facebook page to the instagram for this one.
Facebook: Muscle & Fitness
4. Fit Bottomed Girls
This blog is interesting. It has all kinds of articles for fitness, motivation, nutrition, and even music. The blog is ran by regular women who have full-time jobs and a social life, very relatable for the woman who wants to lead a healthy lifestyle without it controlling their entire life. For this one, I follow the blog over the instagram, I like reading the articles but find the instagram doesn’t really do it justice.
5. Heidi Somers
Better known as Buff Bunny. I LOVE her videos. This girl doesn’t even clear 5 feet tall and absolutely kills it in the gym. I follow her instagram mostly because she’s ripped and beautiful, but I mostly watch her youtube channel.
Youtube: Heidi Somers
And of course,
6. Jillian Michaels
Just a complete inspiration as a motivator/coach. You might know her from the show ‘The Biggest Loser,’ she was the strength coach and an absolute animal the way she pushed the competitors. Her website is more geared towards her online fitness app, but I follow her instagram.
