Barefoot in the sand next to clear, blue waters with the afternoon sun shining down, I tied the knot! I didn’t wear a wedding dress, he didn’t wear a suit, and it was perfect for us.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines offers dream locations for the couple seeking a tropical destination wedding complete with beautiful beaches or lush rain-forest settings, whichever you prefer! We opted for the barefoot beach ceremony for the ultimate beachy wedding.
Since we met on a small island, it felt fitting to be wed on one.
I fell in love with Union Island on my first visit. We have very special memories there so when deciding where to elope, this was an obvious pick.
Whether you and your significant other have a large wedding with all the bells and whistles, an intimate gathering with close family and friends only, or elope just the two of you, be sure it’s perfect for what YOU imagine for your special day. Of course we would have loved to have shared our day with all our wonderful family and friends, but in the end the decision to elope was right for us.
Simple & fun best describes our wedding day. David’s Beach Hotel went above and beyond to make our special day unique to our wants. From the level of customer service when booking and planning the day, to the handmade tropical archway and candle light dinner on the beach (fresh lobster, YUM) everything far exceeded our expectations. They truly made our day feel magical.
After the ceremony, well after we called our family to tell them the good news, off we went to Happy Island to celebrate in true Caribbean fashion – with rum punch! We drank cocktails and watched the beautiful Eastern Caribbean sunset for the first time as husband and wife, wouldn’t change a thing!
If you aren’t from St. Vincent and the Grenadines, then the marriage license process may be difficult to understand as it’s a multi-step process. Something we did not know when applying was there are two different options for registering for the marriage license with very different requirements and costs. Please note: You MUST have register for your Marriage License in St. Vincent at the High Court BEFORE heading to the Grenadines. You also must be a resident to obtain this license, even if it’s only for 24 hours.
Option 1: For this option, you must apply a least a week before your wedding but no more than month beforehand or it will expire. You also need to provide two witnesses. Cost, $15XCD.
Option 2: Express. For this one you just need to be a resident for 24 hours and no witnesses are necessary, they will provide. Cost, $500XCD.
Ceremony: Big Beach, Union Island
Venue: David’s Beach Hotel
David and his team were fantastic. The hotel itself is luxurious, with ocean-front suites on a white-sand beach. It’s all inclusive, with delicious local cuisine – lots of fresh fruit and fish. They don’t have set packages for Destination Weddings, they build one custom to the couple’s desires. David took care of all the details for us, we couldn’t have asked for more!
