Once an active volcano, this short, historic hike is located on the beautiful island of Oahu, Hawaii. Follow this trail up the walls of a volcanic crater to experience uninterrupted panoramic views of the island and coastal views over the Pacific Ocean. You are close to the top once you’ve reached the steep staircase and the tunnel, so keep going and get excited!!

Trail DIAMOND HEAD Summit Trail
Time 1.5 hours
Level of Difficulty Easy
The attraction of this hike is the history and the views at the top. It’s easy and convenient for the area, and the park offers trail information, facilities, and a food truck. Oahu has so many options for activities that are family friendly and unique to the island and this is a popular one!
Although the trail is quite steep at parts, I still consider it an easy hike, suitable for all fitness levels.
Hit this trail early, the earlier the better. It gets VERY busy with tourists, and the trail itself is fairly narrow and hard to pass slow-moving hikers.
This hike is close to Waikiki Beach (a 25 minute walk if you are excited like I was or short drive/taxi ride away). If you are staying in that area this is the perfect activity for a holiday morning sweat sesh, with some extremely rewarding views at the top!
