This post will take you to the amazing Hotel Chocolat in Saint Lucia where the whole concept is as delicious as it is unique. You will feel after visiting this hotel like you won Willy Wonka’s golden ticket!
Hotel Chocolat is located in the southwest region of Soufrière. If you are staying in the Castries area, it will take around an hour and a half to get there but it is totally worth it as this part of the island has the most breathtaking natural spots. As you enter this hotel you can feel its magic, from the classy decoration, to all of the different activities you can do while visiting this exciting place. If you aren’t staying here for the night, you can start by having lunch at the Boucan restaurant and finish by taking the tour “The tree-to-bar experience”. The Boucan restaurant is just perfect to experience the cacao cuisine. The view to the Piton is just the cherry on top. This restaurant beautifully incorporates cocoa into every savory and sweet dish on its menu, as a light and subtle spice, delicate infusion, or simply adding cocoa to any dish in a natural, healthy and harmonious way.

Grilled Cheese Bakes all served with vegetable bar sides, 2 types, and homemade condiments of the day. I ordered the spice cheese, spinach, and mushrooms. Simply delicious.
Rabot Chocolate Lava, which comes with a melted chocolate interior, and nib-infused ice cream. My mouth is watering AGAIN!

Once the food is in the belly, it is time to walk it off. The tour of the cacao plantation is unique, and a complete learning experience, as you can see the pods growing on the trees and see the whole production. You will learn all about how cocoa is processed from the farming, harvesting, fermentation, drying, roasting, winnowing (which is the process by which the beans are shaken to separate shell from the nibs), grinding, mixing and refining, conching, and tempering.

You will then finish the tour with a cooking class where you make your own bar of chocolate
and can then eat your creation at the end of the tour!
