After a killer workout, is there anything better than coming home to a cold, protein packed fruit smoothie?! Think leg day, you shake walking out of the gym and the absolute last thing you feel like doing afterwards is exerting energy into cooking a meal to help muscle growth & recovery but you know you need to – smoothies are a life saver in this moment!!
A little prep goes a long way!
Planning and prep is the key to results. Your kitchen routine is just as important as your fitness regime, and to avoid ineffective post workout meals, have it ready to go for when you get home from the gym.
The Berry Blaster Protein Shake is a great post workout drink AND very quick to whip up.
What I recommend: Prep enough smoothie mixes for the week’s workouts and store in the freezer, then each day you can take out a mix and simply add your protein and juice to the blender and enjoy!
Total Prep: 10 mins | Total Time: 12 mins
Serves: 2 | Yield: 2 Smoothies | Category | Drinks
40 grams of Vanilla Protein
5 grams of Creatine Nonhydrate (optional)
1 cup of Orange Juice
2 cups of Blackberries, Blueberries, Strawberries, and Melon
1/4 cup of Spinach
1 teaspoon of Chia Seeds
1 teaspoon of Flax Seeds
1. Measure and combine the berries, melon, spinach, chia seeds and flax seeds and add to blender.
2. Add in juice and protein to blender.
3. Blend mixture until smooth (roughly 1 – 2 minutes)
4. Serve and enjoy!
**Creatine is VERY optional and a supplement for you should be familiar with before using. This particular smoothie has creatine nonhydrate in it for me because I have just started trying supplements to help primarily with muscle recovery.**
