ANIMAL FLOWER CAVE
To start the visit, you have to either rent a car or go on tour.
The Animal Fower Cave is located at the northern most point of the Island, and the name comes from the sea anemones found in the pools of the cave. Kind of cool, isn’t it? It is not too expensive to go into the cave either, costing about 10USD per adult and 5USD for children.
This cave is fantastic, and it almost looks surreal. Make sure to take your time down there, because it can get quite slippery, especially if you go with kids or with older people. You can also take your swimming suit and towel and leave your worries behind and enjoy a nice swill in one of the natural salt-water pools in the caves!
Once you finish exploring the cave and taking lots of pictures, you can continue the journey by visiting the local crafts vendors outside the Animal Flower Cave to get some most desired souvenirs to take back home, and you can also continue the visit by going to see the spectacular views this place has to offer. I personally enjoyed doing this after lunch so that I could take my time, enjoy the view, walk around a bit and relax after having an amazing meal.
Yes, that’s the name of the restaurant at the Animal Flower Cave, but I can assure you that they were much more creative with the menu options, and the restaurant’s decor. Who doesn’t like having lunch with a view of the vast ocean while experiencing local flavors?
They serve all kinds of yummy things, from Bajan bowls, to rotis, to catch of the day, to cave cutters which are traditional Bajan salt-breads with lettuce, tomato, and cucumber and crispy plantain chips on the side.
I have two healthy pics for this restaurant and I recommend you try them!
- HEALTHY PICK! If you love appetizers and seafood you will love the ceviche special, they always change, so if you can’t find this exact same one, I am sure you will get something as spectacular as this.
- HEALTHY PICK! You can’t miss this vegetable roti that comes with fresh garden salad and pineapple mango chutney! The combinations of flavours are SO Caribbean and SO scrumptious!
If you are up for this adventure, I am sure you will have a day-well-spent enjoying this beautiful place in Barbados. To make it even more worthwhile, you can spot HUMPBACK WHALES at certain times of the year (December to April) from the cliff tops, and it is also one of the best spots in the whole island to see whales!
Why is this place not a world wonder?
Hope you enjoy this adventure as much as I did!
